Applying

Any Kenyan resident aged 18 or over who runs a business — a shop, stall, workshop, transport or service business — and can show it is trading. You will need a National ID and an M-Pesa number registered in your own name.

Start on this website or call us, and a Relationship Officer will take it from there. They will visit your business, understand what you need the funds for, and complete your application with you.

Most applications are assessed within a working day of your Relationship Officer completing your business assessment. You are told the outcome either way.

Our standard business loans are assessed on your business and repayment capacity. Depending on the amount, your Relationship Officer may ask for a guarantor. They will tell you clearly before you accept the loan.

Costs and repayment

Interest is a flat charge on the amount you borrow for the full period — it does not keep accruing. If you borrow KES 10,000 over 4 weeks at 23%, you repay KES 12,300 in total, which is KES 3,075 each week. The rate for each period is on our Loans page.

No. Before you accept a loan you are shown the amount, the weekly repayment, the total repayable and any one-off fee. Nothing is added afterwards.

Repayments are weekly, through our M-Pesa Paybill or at a branch. Your repayment is recorded against your loan and you can ask your Relationship Officer for a statement at any time.

Yes. Talk to your Relationship Officer and they will confirm your settlement amount.

Contact your Relationship Officer as soon as you know there is a problem — we would far rather agree a plan with you. Missed instalments attract a late fee, and loans that stay in default may be reported to a Credit Reference Bureau. You are notified before any listing is made.

Receiving your money

Approved loans are disbursed to your M-Pesa number or your bank account, whichever you chose on your application. You receive an SMS confirming the payout.

No. Funds are only ever sent to an account or M-Pesa number registered in the borrower's own name. This protects you.

Your information

Yes. Your data is held on our own secured systems, sensitive identity details are encrypted, and every staff member who accesses your record does so under their own login, which is logged. We handle your data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

Only where the law requires it — for example reporting a defaulted loan to a Credit Reference Bureau. We do not sell your data.
